what is pdxAMBUCS?

OUR MISSION: pdxAMBUCS provides adaptive tricycles to children with disabilities in Oregon and SW Washington to promote movement, play, social development and inclusion.
We assist in funding customized, adaptive tricycles for children and adults when an off-the-shelf bicycle or tricycle is not adequate. We are the Greater Portland Area, Oregon chapter of the National AMBUCS organization.

OUR STORY

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing adaptive trykes to children in need. Since our chapter was founded in 2016, pdxAMBUCS has distributed over 180 trykes to those in need.  Our organization fundraises so that the children on our wishlist can receive the gift of mobility.   Alex is one of those amazing people and she  made the video below to show just how much her tryke has meant to her.

OUR PURPOSE

We believe that every child deserves the right to move about and explore their world. We recognize that for many a “Big Red Tryke” is the most readily available way to improve mobility. We connect with children and families in need; to organize, fundraise, purchase, build, deliver, and custom-fit these life-changing adapted tricycles, and to promote safe and inclusive events for their use. We know lasting change requires enduring support, so we work with families after delivery to keep trykes correctly sized and maintained, and to redistribute trykes which can help new riders.

OUR FOCUS

Improving the lives of children by granting them the opportunity to experience the joy and freedom of riding their very own trykes. Through our efforts, we aim to bring smiles and empowerment to children facing mobility challenges.
